Golden Ringed Dragonfly - June 2014

This beautiful Golden Ringed Dragonfly was found near Saxon and Barn Ponds recently. It appears to be a first record for the Country Park; this is a female and their wasp-like colouration and the visible ovipositor are said to be responsible for the [erroneous !] belief that Dragonflies can sting.
