Trees in Spring Walk - April 2018

An impressive 26 people took part in the  'Trees in Spring Walk’ with expert Dr. Owen Johnson on Saturday April 14th.

After the long cold winter, few of the trees were showing signs of spring, but it was fascinating nonetheless. Aside from the occasional sea mist drifting in, it was a beautiful spring day and everyone enjoyed walking through Fairlight Glen, enlivened by Owen’s description of how different the treescape would have been when mastodons and other prehistoric beasts grazed on them!

It was very muddy underfoot, but we all managed to stay upright and admire the wood anemones, wild garlic and the first bluebells alongside the path. By the end of the walk we all felt we knew our trees a lot better.
